Justice Jewelers raises funds for Convoy of Hope

Donates $15,000 for disaster relief in Missouri 

(SPRINGFIELD, Mo.) - Springfield, MO-based Justice Jewelers raised $15,000 in June to support Convoy of Hope’s response to multiple disasters in Missouri. According to Amelia Justice, Justice Jewelers co-owner, the business donated 10% of sales for the entire month of June. In addition to raising funds to support Convoy’s disaster response, Justice Jewelers staff wore Convoy of Hope shirts throughout the month to promote awareness about the fundraiser and the cause.

DCA Receives a Grant from GIA to Provide Scholarships

Scholarships will be provided to DCA Graduates for continued education at GIA

(NEW YORK) - Diamond Council of America (DCA) - a nationally accredited school that offers jewelers the opportunity to earn professional certifications in diamonds, colored gemstones, and fine jewelry sales through distance education - announced that they have received a $25,000 grant from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to provide scholarships to DCA graduates to enroll in GIA online distance education courses.

Happy birthday to renowned Los Angeles area gemologist-appraiser Charles Carmona. Carmona celebrated his birthday on June 29th in true gemstone-worthy style. Celebrants at his lively bash had plenty to nosh on; not the least of which was a geode cake in a nod to his lifelong passion of mineral collecting. The photo shows Carmona holding his realistic geode delicacy while friend and Caltech professor George Rossman calls out the finer points of crystallography.
