(WARWICK, R.I.) - The Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT) has partnered with Mariel Diaz, founder of Accounting for Jewelers, to offer two free financial educational webinars: “Understanding Financial Statements” and “How to Develop an Annual Budget”.

• Understanding Financial Statements, October 16, 2018, 2:00 - 3:00 pm EST

Whether you are a new investor, a small business owner, an executive, or just trying to keep track of your personal finances, you need to understand how to read, analyze, and create financial statements so you can get a full and accurate understanding of your finances. Financial statements will tell you how much money there is, how much debt is owed, the income coming in each month, and the expenses going out the door. This webinar will teach you how to do all of that.

• How to Develop an Annual Budget, November 6, 2018, 2:00 – 3:00 pm EST

A detailed and realistic budget is one of the most important tools for guiding your business and providing the information necessary to operate within your means, handle upcoming challenges, and ultimately turn a profit. A solid budget identifies currently available capital, estimates expenditures, and anticipates revenues.  You should continually refer to your business’ budget as a way of measuring performance against expectations. ​

The jewelry industry relies on seasonal sales revenue; your budget would allow for you to plan ahead so that you’ll have the best approach for distributing that revenue most effectively over your entire fiscal year.
