Jewelers of America announces Board elections & new Chairman

(NEW YORK) - Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, has elected Ryan Berg, Market President of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry in San Antonio, TX, as JA’s new Board Chairman. He succeeds Bill Farmer Jr., partner of Farmer’s Jewelry. Berg was elected on July 25 at JA’s Board meeting that also welcomed many new Directors.

TIJT student receives watchmaking scholarship

The combined efforts of a charitable trust and foundation has led to the awarding of a scholarship to David Kellar, of Plano, TX, a student at Paris Junior College’s Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology (TIJT). Kellar resides in Paris while he completes his Associate Degree in Applied Science in horology.

The Harold J. and Marie Borneman Greenwood Memorial Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation made a donation of $5,000 to the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute ELM Charitable Trust to provide scholarships for students studying watchmaking and watch repair.

Centurion’s Barri Singer promoted to National Sales Manager

(MERRICK, N.Y.) - Centurion has announced the promotion of Barri Singer from Account Executive to National Sales Manager. Members of the sales team will report to Singer, who will report to president Howard Hauben.

Singer joined the group in 2012 and has been part of Centurion’s successful team working on booth, sponsorship and advertising sales, as well as assisting invited retail jewelers in making their show attendance plans for Centurion, Centurion South Beach and the Select By Centurion shows.

ICA appoints Gary Roskin as Executive Director

Roskin Sept(NEW YORK) - The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that well-known gems and jewelry expert Gary Roskin has been appointed as ICA Executive Director.

Mr. Roskin began in the new position on August 4 at ICA’s New York office. He is responsible for ICA’s day-to-day activities, and will contribute to the development of the association. He will report to the ICA’ Board of Directors.
