Oklahoma Jewelers make big plans for Fall Convention

Jewelers from across the state of Oklahoma will meet in Edmond on September 21st to share ideas with one another and learn from three exciting and entertaining industry speakers.

Jason A’alona comes to the convention from Podium and will present a program that focuses on the way that consumers communicate in today’s market. A’alona will explain that telephone and e-mail will soon no longer be an effective way to maintain contact and interact with customers. As a new generation of jewelry buyers is immerging, it will be important for jewelers to constantly be ready to understand and update the ways they communicate.

Phillip Bosen with Bosen and Associates, consultant to retail jewelers, will present a program entitled “Clienteling for Increased Sales and Loyalty,” emphasizing that selling is only the first step to a successful long-term customer relationship. He will present fresh and fun ideas for taking a person from one-time buyer to loyal and long-term customer who will not only buy repeatedly but continue to bring new customers to jewelers’ doors. In addition to these two well-known speakers, Marty Burns, with Parle’, will bring a fascinating program that features color in today’s changing marketplace.

Headlining the entertainment portion of the program will be Sam Ferguson and “Dueling Pianos!” Executive Director Vicki Cunningham first heard the Dueling Pianos program at the Mid-America Jewelers Conference in Kansas City and remembered what a tremendous hit it was for everyone there. The entertainers stimulated a high level of audience participation, from stage volunteers, to singing and dancing right from the audience. “Dueling Pianos” was a program that kept everyone in the room having fun - right up to the final number.”

Convention sponsors include Jewelers of America, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, Clockwork Insurance Services and the American Gem Society. The Oklahoma Jewelers Association is an AGS Guild Organization.

The convention date is September 21st, and will be held at a brand new venue - the Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center in North Edmond, just north of Oklahoma City. For details and registration, contact www.oklahomajewelers.org or call Vicki Cunningham, Executive Director, at 918-627-7777.
