Its been nearly two weeks since Hurricane Harvey swamped eastern Texas with damaging winds and record breaking rainfall and flooding. Flooding from Harvey, the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005, inundated hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses, displaced more than 30,000 people and resulted in at least 66 deaths.
The catastrophic event has passed, but the rebuilding effort (expected to take years) has just begun. Jewelers of America, the Diamond Council of America and National Jeweler are raising money to help jewelers in Houston who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Texas Jewelers Association is also raising funds to support their fellow Texans. 100% of the proceeds collected by the TJA will go to families affected by this devastating tragedy. Learn more about the TJA’s relief efforts at http://texasjewelers.org/harvey-relief-fund/.
