John Henne elected as Jewelers of America Board Chairman

Henne(NEW YORK) - Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, has elected John Henne, President of Henne Jewelers in Pittsburgh, PA, as Board Chairman. He succeeds Ryan Berg, Market President of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry. Henne was elected on July 24, 2017 at JA’s Board meeting that also welcomed new Directors.


NCJA, SCJA form alliance

As the saying goes, “There is strength in numbers.” In the case of both the North Carolina Jewelers Association and the South Carolina Jewelers Association, that certainly rings true. The NCJA and SCJA have announced that the Board of Directors for both state associations have agreed to form a two-year alliance in order to expand association member opportunities and streamline association functionality, effective July 1, 2017. “The NCJA and SCJA are the face and voice of the North Carolina and South Carolina jewelry industry,” says Jane Kirk, Executive Director of both associations. “Each of its members is a credible professional, viewed as leaders in the industry, and important to the industry as a whole.”

IGI launches two new associations

Italy Association to represent IGI’s robust education offerings and Italy Alumni Association to promote professional relations 

(NAPLES, Italy) - The International Gemological Institute (IGI) launched two new associations in June during a one-day workshop to update attendees on the technical and commercial impact on the jewelry industry, taking into consideration the impact of synthetic diamonds in the marketplace.

JA expands affiliation with Diamond Council of America

(NEW YORK) - Jewelers of America (JA) announced it is establishing a new collaborative relationship with the Diamond Council of America (DCA), after the boards of both organizations voted in June in favor of a new affiliation agreement. The affiliation would take effect later this year, following a vote by DCA members at the DCA Annual Meeting on July 17, and review by the New York Attorney General.
