First 2017 JIS Show leaves attendees confident about the year ahead

JIS deems 1st of two shows at temporary Fort Lauderdale location a success

JIS

(NORWALK, Conn.) - The JIS January 2017 Show concluded on January 29th at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center for its first show of 2017 and its first of two shows being held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. JIS reports the Show was a success all around as thousands of satisfied buyers and hundreds of exhibitors were thrilled with the new, temporary venue. The combination of being only five minutes from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, access to a parking garage physically connected to the convention center, a beautiful wall of windows overlooking a cruise ship port, the accommodating and friendly staff, and being only minutes from famous beaches and the Las Olas Boulevard Shopping District, were only a few of the reasons everyone loved the venue.

Walter Torres - who travels from his store, Joyeria Regine, in Nicaragua to attend JIS Shows - always loves the “welcoming atmosphere at JIS and the easy-to-access locations of the events in South Florida, whether in Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach. Fort Lauderdale was just as convenient as Miami Beach, and still had the familiar, enjoyable South Florida feel (he) is accustomed to getting at JIS events.”  Not only are JIS shows a trade-only buying destination, but they are a place for the jewelry industry to mix business with pleasure throughout the year.

JIS 1The array of exhibiting companies - many regulars, as well as newcomers - also played a large part in participants’ satisfaction of the show. Henry Harary, owner of Maison Maurice and member of the elite JIS Platinum Club for buyers, told JIS: “I arrived at JIS on the first day of the show, Friday, at 10:00 am - right when the doors opened. By noon, I already found and purchased a new assortment of merchandise for my upcoming season. I even found some new suppliers. The timing of this show could not have been better for me to replenish my inventory after Christmas.”

Harary, who also attended the show on both Saturday and Sunday, had only one complaint, “The show is only three days. I could use more time to see everything JIS January has to offer.”

JIS is excited to announce to Harary and the rest of the industry that it does offer two four day shows later this year - JIS Exchange in Las Vegas, June 5 - 8 (in partnership with JCK), and JIS October in Miami Beach, October 8-11. JIS Miami October will be the first JIS event of the year that will return to the Miami Beach Convention Center - currently closed due to a $596 million renovation and upgrade project.

The JIS January Show offered more than an opportunity to buy this year. It also focused on giving retailers invaluable tools to transform their business in the modern, ever changing retail world through its new education series, JIS Talks.

JIS 2

The two-day series made its debut on January 28 - 29 with more than 8 sessions hosted in both English and Spanish. Speakers from Yelp, JCK Magazine, HubSpot, Luxury Brand Marketing, and more all contributed to the seminar series. Set as classroom style presentations, all registered JIS customers were invited to attend free sessions each day. And the learning didn’t stop when each session ended. For one example, Jennifer Shaheen of Technology Therapy took time to speak with an attendee one-on-one about her business for more than twenty minutes after her official JIS Talks session came to a close. Already, JIS customers are requesting more education at future events, and JIS is listening. The April Show is slated to play host to the next series in the JIS Talks program. Stay tuned for an official speaker announcement and visit jisshow.com/april for the latest updates.

In addition to the impressive venue, array of exhibitors, and the valuable JIS Talks program, JIS also personally matched exhibitors with attendees based on their product needs at the show in order to make finding new suppliers and merchandise easier than ever. Exhibitor Recommendations were served up to attendees through pre-show e-mails and personalized planning tools offered to all pre-registered and registered attendees (also incorporated into the popular JIS Show Mobile App). With a large portion of attendees looking for new vendors at JIS events, this helpful program is not only a complimentary amenity but an asset to many shopping the show. This program will continue to be offered to all pre-registered attendees at future JIS Shows throughout the year.

JIS 3Overall, exhibitors and attendees left the January event confident in the year’s outlook for the industry. One exhibitor, Aneth Lusardi of Grain of Sand, even commented on how sore his legs were from all the business he had done. He had no time to sit for three days as his booth was inundated from start to finish with customers; a very positive way to start the 2017 sales and retail year.

As JIS January came to an official close, cases were emptied, and booths were broken down, JIS and its customers were already setting their sights on its next two shows - JIS April in Fort Lauderdale (April 8-10) and JIS Exchange in Las Vegas (June 5-8). Planning has already started, registration for JIS April is open (visit jisshow.com/april), and the countdown is on.
